I beg to differ about the coaching having nothing to do with it, coaching has everthing to do with it. Southern Local has many, many underclassmen that play and contribute to the team. Two real quick things come to mind from that game where it was all about coaching was the two fake punts by Southern. You think that the kids just did that on their own. Maybe it was just luck and Southern's coaching staff just guessed and never picked up on that when they scouted the Bulldogs. I bet they never practiced them fake punts all week leading to the game. How about the weak side blitz that resulted in a safety Southern executed down near the endzone. I'm sure coach Skrinjar called that one to. Your statement about the Dogs being young is partly correct but I did count 7 seniors on the bulldog roster. The other part where you say coaching had nothing to do with it is completely wrong. Doesn't take much coaching to play against inexperienced teams.

Yes I agree the Rams running game is amazing. However, the D needs alot of work. Possible the D looked weak due to the speed of Campbell? I hope that was the case. I also hope that having those two guys on offence will spark more interest from this community.

I would have to say that I am very impressed with the wins pulled out by United and Springfield. Springfield starts things off right by beating the lower ITCL favorite. United beats a Malvern team that has gone 24-3 the last 2 years while racking up 500 yards of O. If they can beat Salem in week #2, watch out.

I think before we get to carried away on the results of week one we need to keep in mind that both Crestview and Columbiana had very tough assignments playing on the road against playoff caliber teams both a division up. Ridge played a tough Campbell team without thier starting QB. Springfield, Range, and United all had impressive wins and need congratulated but the road to this years ITCL upper title still goes thru Crestview, with stops in Columbiana and Ridge.

Great post guys! Your exactly right eaglefan. The one thing about the ITCL as a whole league scheduling very tough opposition in the non-conference portion of the schedule is that some of the top teams could/have taken a loss. But that doesn't mean they are done. It may mean that they are going to be just that much better once league play begins.

After week one some teams have impressive wins, and a couple came out on the short end of a hard-fought battle. Even though the road to the ITCL championship (i think) goes thru Crestview, there could be up to a 5 team battle to see who is who. Should be an interesting year for sure. Good luck to all the boys playing on Friday nights!

I think SR has a decent chance of finishing near the top of the ITCL, and yes, they are my team. But, I wouldn't agree with it being without a problem. That implies "way-too-easily", and I don't think its going to be easy for any Upper-team to win it without a "stumble" or two. That being said, SR has about 20 Senior leaders on the Team and that does means something in my book. How special the something is... remains to be seen! Good Luck Raiders - take it to CM!

I cant wait to see how South Range does aginst Campbell... I think Ridge has fast backs but that is only two players. Campbell has 5-6 that can take it every play. Good luck Raiders.

Lets not forget that Ridge played the 7th ranked team in the state in division 4 very tough, and yea they lost 42-28, the last touchdown coming for Campbell on a kickoff return for a td with very little time left. Ridge was without there starting QB and Safety, a starting WR and DB, and a Starting OL/DL. One due to injury, the other 2 due to discipline. I like Ridge to be in a lot of exciting games this season, with a very good chance of coming out on top in 8 or 9 of them. 9-1 would be a very tough thing for them to do at this point starting 0-1, but I wouldn't be shocked as they appear to have all the tools. That offensive line is very talented and I think the defense will come around, as that was by far the fastest and most talented offensive football team they will face all year. I look for big things from the Rams. Also United could be a sleeper.

Good insight Hotstuff, thanks! This next game (SR - CM) will be a very good measuring stick for both teams, but especially SR. I think if SR plays mistake-free, controls the clock like they did last week, and can contain the CM skill players, then they have a good chance at a "W". Wait a minute... sounds like a recipe that all teams attempt to do every week! :>) Let's go Raiders - play w/ intensity and focus for 48 minutes and it should be within reach at the end!

I'm beginning to think everyone should keep an eye on South Range. Just because they had a down year last year does not mean they will not be a team to recon with this year! I still think the contenders are Q-backs from CR and MR...What do you guys think?

I think tonight against a very, very good Campbell team will tell us a lot about the Raiders.
