What's the news or predictions for the 2007 season? Players to watch? Teams to watch?

I think Mineral Ridge may be an early favorite due to a number of returning players from a very good team last year. However, watch for South Range and Crestview to re-load again and challenge for the league crown in 2007. Depending on who Springfield hires as their new coach they may be a very dangerous team with several returning players. United and Lisbon may need a year to rebuild after losing some key players, and East Palestine will likely be alot tougher this year after their young team gained some experience in '06.

South Range has to b the favorite yet again. They just reload year after year after year and this year should be no different. Jack Dawson is back at QB and Steve Bensinger is back at HB, arguably the two most exciting athletes the ITCL has to offer. Not to mention lineman Dan Pierce, Mike Hudak, and Mike Kenney. The Melnick twins look like studs in the secondary (hopefully that holds true), and Padach if he plays(hell of a wrestler) can lay the wood back at FS. Charlie Lengyl is a great H-back as well as linebacker and dont forgot about JC Willison, the leagues best kicker and punter. Tommy Biroschak is a valuable tightend. Look for many underclassman to step up in a big way: Grant Snyder(OL/TE and DL), Chris Gause(OL/DL), John Seaver (FB/LB), as well as many others. Not to mention the best head coach and coaching staff in the ITCL, and possibly all of NE Ohio. hopefull ill have more info as the season approaches but South Range appears they have the tools they need to reach a fourth consecutive regional final.

Ilovelamp, who do you see as the starting FB, WB, and SE for the Raiders this year? I definetly agree with you about coach Yeagley and his staff. I doubt that anyone thought the Raiders would go as far as they did in 2006! With the program that Coach Yeagley has in place, every year the Raiders will be considered a contender in the league.

Look for junior John Seaver to be the lead candidate for the fullback postion. He is a little 6 foot and carries about 205 punds with him. Rumor had it last year that he was supposed to have a lot of playing time at the FB position but was under an illness for most of the season. At the Split end postion look for nothing different from the Range. They will run there normal SE by committee but we will have to see if they are as relaible as in the past (Less, Razo, Maxwell, Miller, Carolyne, etc.). The front runner in my opinion would have to be Ryan Rach (brother of all-world, lol, David Rach) and the Melnick Twins (all to be seniors). The Wingback position might be the hardest to determine. I believe this position will rely on what Yeagley does at the TE. Senior-to-be Tommy Biroshak is very capable of handling the TE postion but is a little short, and Juniot Grant Snyder might be moved inside to tackle but has great agility and is very athletic (Like his brothers, Greg-ICL Offense player of the year as a Guard in 2005, and like his eldest bro Gary who was strong as a bull-2003) to play tightend. The wildcard in my opinion at the TE postion who is also considered to be my front funner for the wingback position is Charles Lengyl. He had great size and great speed and can handle the blocking duties. He started at OLB last season and has the physical nature to play the wingback in Yeagleys Wing-T. Think back to the 04' season when Range had Joey Marino run the wing....that might be ur best comparison. Don't be surprised to see Lengyl run a couple of those sweeps and trick plays that Rach ran out of the wing back postion last year as well. Another candidate to play the wing is Chris Novak. While he may play more of a backup HB, he has the tools to play the postion llike his brother Matt did back in 03'. Novak is also another serious candidate to help in the secondary because of his reckless ability to use his body. Hopefully this gives you more of an idea of what they have coming back. Lets hear a little more about the other teams......Had some trouble with my username log in but i wil create an account under a different name soon.

How do you know so much about Range? Do you go there, or did you go there?

Coaltrain23: I am a former member of the South Range Program. I still close ties with many of the players and coaches at the program and pretty well informed i guess. I also have a question for the readers of this forum as well. I posted this the other day on JJHuddle but it was taken off because it was thought to be a rumor, but my sources say that it did happen. Can anyone inform me about an alleged incident at Wellman's Flowershop in North Lima b/w a group of South Range kids and Springfield kids?

Watch JC Willison to be the top kicker in the ITCL and Ohio this year, just like last year.

Ilovelamp is full of it, i know for a fact that John Seaver wont be the Full back for the raiders, he 230+ pounds and runs a 5.2 40. They have much better ones and they are both seniors. They are Chris Novak and Craig Jones. Also look for grant Snyder to make all itcl first team his junior year.

How are you going to come on here and bash a 17 year old kid? ? That is pathetic! I merely stated what I heard from the ol' ball coach himself from the NL so don't call my facts bogus they are def. for real. If you read my post before I stated that he was the lead candidate not that starter. Coach Yeagley likes to use a variety of players in his offense and I believe that starts with what he would like to do at the wingback position. He has many players here that are interchangeable at this position with tightend, wingback, and fullback possibly being shuffled around. Tommy "Beans" Biroshack is BIG! He and junior Grant Snyder will battle for the tightend job with possibly Charlie Lengyel. If Biroshack ends up starting at tightend, I, may I stress the I, think that Charlie will start at wingback and I look for Chris Novak to be a force in the backfield. I just saw this young man at his house the other day for the first time in a very long time and he is huge. He was more of a HB to me but he def has the body of a FB! Craig Jones looked promising on specail teams last year and I'm not sure how much offensive play he will get, but he will def be an impact on the defensive side of the ball with the intensity he brings to the field. Grant Snyder is a toss up where to play on offense but like Jones he will make more of an impact on the "D" line where he shows as much promise as any junior in the state. And footballforlife, you nailed it. JC is the BEST kicker in the state!!! He won the South Range-Crestview game last year for the Raiders keeping the Rebels pinned down all game and helped out in many more. Goodluck to the Raiders and everyone else in the upper tier this year.
