Ok, good luck to the Rebels in the playoffs against Kirtland... How do you guys see the upper shaking out next season?

Most people I'm sure will pick Cview, SR, and Col as the top three based on recent history. Like most people, I like those three as well, but all teams will be very competetive. EP can sneak into this group over the course if they prove they can finish games!! They had all three of these teams on the rope this past season but just couldn't get it done. I know the pups return a lot of players next year from an already dangerous team. No team will take them lightly especially with Peterson and Co back, but until they prove they can close out games, they won't be an 'elite' team. Range loses Dawson but I think Miller will be just fine and the loss of Gause and Razo hurts but their season will hinge on the developement of the line play and their D over the offseason. Cview will b hit hard by graduation, but like SR has proven to re-load. Spaite will have his boys ready as usual and can't be written off either. Springfield and Coach G are starting to build a program but I feel they will be in the middle of the pack. United is always a wildcard and has Ryan Phillis back who is just a flatout playmaker. Mineral Ridge will have a tall task in front of them but return almost everyone like EP does and Lisbon will struggle again next season, but I like what the new coach is doing and think he has the program headed in the right direction.
No real predictions yet, but I will throw this out there:
1-4 (In no real order) SR, View, Col, Ep 5-8 (In no real order) SP, the U, MR, Lisbon

I like your top 4 as well raiderqb. I really don't know who to pick. Columbiana and South Range have been reloading for over a decade and they'll do so again. EP probably has the most back in terms of returning starters, but they've yet to get over the hump.
Everyone knows by now that Crestview is going to reload every year. The wild card to me is this---this years senior class is the first to have spent all four years of their career in that no-huddle spread offense Crestview runs. They're also the first class that has spent each offseason conditioning and lifting for that exact offense. The results speak for themselves as I don't think Crestview has lost more than 5 games combined all the way down through their levels. It's not like there is something in the water either. Crestview really didn't have a TON back going into this year and lost a 1000/1000 QB and a 1000 yard rusher from the year before. Yet they've blown the bulbs off the scoreboard. From this point on, every single kid in the program is going to know that offense like the back of his hand by the time he gets on the varsity field. He's also going to have been in the weightroom and jumpstretch prepping for the way Crestview plays for 3+ years before he ever steps on the field.
Needless to say, I'm very curious to see what happens with Crestview next year and in the coming years. Cusick's has had a crazily rapid ascent to the top at Crestview and I can't help but wonder if he has them set up for South Range-like success and pointed toward becoming a legit top 8-10 DV program in the state of Ohio.

My choices are: SR, Crestview, Columbiana and my Dogs.....If Ep could have finished games with those three, we could have been the champs and been in the playoffs...I still think that Ep will be one, if not the top team next season since they have all but 3 returning....they have a great core of talent, similar to the '02 team and should be a team to fear more than this season...JMO fellas.... and in reference to a comment above about Peterson and company....sounds like the statements about Smitty and company....this team does have the potential to be as good and they just need to finish games and not leave us Ep fans hanging...they had the chances, and oh so many chances to make the statements......just wasn't in the cards this year....

any new thoughts about next season? Interesting thought, will anyone changed tiers with the upcoming OHSAA census this spring? I know Ep, Lisbon, SR, Crestview and United will stay upper, but what about Columbiana, Ridge, Springfield? All three of those hang around the cut off...and if so, who would move into the upper to replace them? Wellsville? This is just an opinion and there is no fact, so comment with that thought...

I don't like the idea of teams jumping tiers too much anyway, so I hope it doesn't happen. The 5 schools you mentioned are probably nowhere near the cutoff nor will they ever be but the others are close. I think it presents some issues, especially as far as rivalries are concerned. With schools being tied into OOL games usually at least a couple years in advance, what would happen if there were a year South Range didn't play Springfield or Columbiana didn't play Crestview. What if Mineral Ridge dropped to the Lower Tier and played McDonald in Week 3 and Week 4 or just twice at any point in the season? Or if Columbiana did and played Leetonia twice? Or Springfield and Lowellville? Just my opinion.

I'd think the schools who changed would just swap skeds for league games and non league games as you stated would present a possible two games...could be a mess, but it could happen if someone had a total enrollment less than a lower or the other way....and I think it could happen. All districts are experiencing a decline in enrollment, it is just who declines more... I don't think there is any OHSAA rule against playing twice...as it happens in playoffs sometimes....just my opinion....

Is this just a rumor, or is it a result of parents moving or something?

Disappointing news for the Eagle faithful to lose such a talented young man.

Ryan Phillis parent's house is up for sale. I saw it when I drove past a couple weeks ago. My cousin is a Senior at United and verified that Ryan is now in Boardman schools
Good Luck to him, he's a good kid just like his older brother Jimmy
