1. 8-0 Kirtland Kirtland 17.1250 clinched playoff spot 2. 7-1 Woodsfield Monroe Central 15.5347 control own destiny 3. 7-1 Columbiana Crestview 11.8875 4. 6-2 Campbell Memorial 11.2875 5. 7-1 Columbiana Columbiana 11.2500 6. 7-1 Salineville Southern 10.3875 7. 6-2 Sugarcreek Garaway 10.2625 8. 7-1 Barnesville Barnesville 9.8876 9. 6-2 New Middletown Springfield 9.5000 10. 5-3 Louisville St Thomas Aquinas 9.0991 11. 7-1 Cuyahoga Heights Cuyahoga Heights 8.8500 12. 5-3 Rootstown Rootstown 7.4875
Here's the top 12 in R17. Wanted to focus on these teams since it's unlikely (though still mathematically possible) for any lesser seeded teams to make it to the Final 8. Anyone care to predict as to who they feel the Final 4 will be?

Pick me, pick me... (Can ya tell someone is excited about R17 this yr.... minus Ursuline). I think the top 4 will remain in that order - except CM and Crestview will swith positions. Also, me thinks the only top 8 team above that will NOT get in is Southern... leaving the way for Cuyahoga Heights to get the last slot. Just my unscientific, unsophisticated guess. And since Campbell Memorial bumps past Crestview, this leaves Crestview and Columbiana at #4 and #5 which gives ITCL fans their rematch :>). How do yo like them apples?

Clarification on statement: "Wanted to focus on these teams since it's unlikely (though still mathematically possible) for any lesser seeded teams to make it to the Final 8."
I meant to imply that is was possible for SOME of the lesser-seeded teams to still make the playoffs - not all of them. Sorry for any confusion.

Drew Pasteur Predictions for Region 17 Playoffs:
Region 17 Projections 1) Kirtland 22.53 2) Monroe Central (Woodsfield) 19.01 3) Columbiana 17.75 4) Memorial (Campbell) 16.60 5) Crestview (Columbiana) 16.25 6) Garaway (Sugarcreek) 15.70 7) Cuyahoga Heights (Cleveland) 15.45 8) St Thomas Aquinas (Louisville) 14.38
Interesting that both Southern and Springfield would get squeezed out of the playoffs according to Pasteur's site. A first round game between Campbell and Crestview would be especially interesting in the Mahoning Valley area though.

Heres my take: I don't see St. Thomas Aquinas getting in, they've got 2 tough games left in Northwest and CCC. The current top 4 all have relatively easy remaining schedules, but Struthers might give Campbell a game. Southern needs to beef up their outta-league schedule. Finishing 9-1 and not making the playoffs? Granted these schedules were made a few years back, but if they want to make the playoffs they gotta earn some computer points in the first 3 weeks. Columbiana/Springfield- the winner plays week 11, the loser hits the weights a week earlier.
That's all, now back to writing this paper........

It's possible Barnesville gets the #8 spot if they win their last two, and I agree that St. Thomas Aquinas does not get in as they have the eqivelant of 2 playoff games for their last two games. Southern -agree- need to play tougher opponents!

Will be interesting now as Springfield beat Columbiana. Springfield should move back into the top 8 with that win.

Interesting to say the least, as Ursuline gets back in the playoff hunt with their impressive win over Mooney. And Barnesville lost as well I believe... which is good for Columbiana. We'll have to wait and see how things shake out after week 10.

What is sad is Ursuline can get back into the hunt after beating Mooney. Nothing would please me more than to see them miss the cutoff and C-view, Columbiana, Springfield and Southern make the cut. But nothing is fair in life, and it ain't fair that Ursuline can get in with a 4-6 record. That is BS!

For the sake of some of the other contenders in R17, hopefully Ursuline's schedule gets the better of them this year. I for one would like to see some of the potential matchups that would come without the Irish in the mix.

Wow I sure missed with Columbiana vs Springfield I never saw that one coming it must have been a great game. Definitely helped Springfields hope for post season play and hopefully Columbiana will still make it. Good luck to all in the playoffs and hope the Irish don't sneak in in under the radar if so they may repeat

Here's the current top 10:
1. 9-0 812 Kirtland Kirtland 19.8500 2. 8-1 1063 Woodsfield Monroe Central 17.1212 3. 8-1 436 Columbiana Crestview 14.6722 4. 7-2 1478 New Middletown Springfield 13.5389 5. 7-2 624 Sugarcreek Garaway 13.0167 6. 7-2 1010 Campbell Memorial 12.7833 7. 8-1 446 Cuyahoga Heights Cuyahoga Heights 12.5333 8. 8-1 1456 Salineville Southern 12.2222 9. 7-2 408 Columbiana Columbiana 11.9611 10. 5-4 1378 Louisville St Thomas Aquinas 10.3152
If Ursuline beats Akron SV They are in. Columbiana needs to win and get help to get in at #8 and then play Kirtland up by the lake.

Hey Clipper they said on the friday night scoreboard that the Irish need to win and get help to make it. Hope Columbiana makes it as the ITCL will be very well represented maybe 4 teams make the post season. maybe a rematch with Crestview or Monroe Anyway anything to keep the Irish on the sidelines in week 11 cause they probably repeat if they get in.

The latest Drew Pasteur Predictions for Region 17:
Region 17 Projections 1) Kirtland 22.48 2) Monroe Central (Woodsfield) 19.06 3) Memorial (Campbell) 16.25 4) Crestview (Columbiana) 16.25 5) Garaway (Sugarcreek) 16.15 6) Cuyahoga Heights (Cleveland) 15.70 7) Springfield (New Middletown) 15.60 8) Columbiana 14.70
The Clippers would probably have the toughest draw there, but I'm sure they would be thrilled to be in the playoffs, and hey you never know what could happen on any given Friday.
By the way......Division 5 playoffs will be played on Friday nights this year.
