Now here is another thought, E. Liverpool would be a good fit for the upper also. And I haven't seen the Salem teams being so overly dominant this year against ITCL teams, nor has E. Liverpool..

jasonreager, who, and in what sports did ITCL teams play either Salem or E. Liverpool? I assume that they played in basketball, softball or baseball.

Of course, this is headed to be a football driven question isn't it? At this time, United is the only one who played Salem. Second, most schools play the two in other sports.

Yes, sort of, but I just didn't remember seeing that many ITCL schools play East Liverpool. I knew a couple ITCL teams played Salem in baseball. Of course some of your sports other than football don't get the headlines in the newspaper that they deserve.

Of course some of your sports other than football don't get the headlines in the newspaper that they deserve. I do know Ep played EL in softball and I know Salem would be a good fit in the upper tier as both boys and girls wouldn't dominate any one sport year in and out. EL would be good in basketball and possibly Salem. In football EL might have an advantage, but not much. And with gas prices the way they are, seems both would be a good fit. I know we are all comparing boys sports , but that is just half of it. The money makers, football and basketball would benefit from both additions... Just my worthless opinions fellas....

I love the thought of Salem joining the ITCL.

I love the thought of Salem joining the ITCL. Give it time, Salem will be begging to join after the experiment of the 3 tier All American Conference. Salem will drop to D4 next time and they would be a good upper tier fit. That would give them 6 games within 12 miles....better than traveling all over the Mahoning Valley. Salem has a rivalry with United, and they also have an ancient one with Ep, that gets renewed every so often.....Give it time....

Since the TCL and ICL have merged there has been several other leagues talking of a merge in the state. That goes to show you have successful this merger has been!

Clipper1970, You are dead right! Thus far this has been a great merger! New rivalrys are starting up and the old ones, for the most part, can still continue! I am a little bit skeptical however of the new All American Conference that has popped up. It will be interesting how a three tiered league goes and if all schools involved will be happy.

Maybe not, but you sure keep bringing it back up on that thread bulldog! ;D Salem would be a great addition to the ITCL, but don't you think they would also have to add a second team to make it an even numbered league? Who would the other team be? And will Wellsville and Southern stay in the league or will it be a 9 team division set up?

You could add Salem, and now that Youngstown Christian is a Independent, that would give you the other school to make it even.... YCS have played several ITCL schools in football, and it might be a benefit to both the ITCL and YCS, if you can get Salem, and keep Wellsville and Southern.... That is just my opinion, and what I would like to see. I'd like to see Mathews rejoin the ITCL, but it will never happen being Mathews would end up in the Upper Tier I believe...
