This web site just recently had a poll question of how many fans would be in favor of the ITCL expanding. Only 15% voted in favor of expansion, but then on Wednesday March 14th, the ITCL had a meeting considering expansion: www.morningjournalnews.com/sports/articles.asp?articleID=5409What are the feelings of ITCL fans now?

Just add Salem to the upper tier..they will be D4 soon...and remove Mineral ridge to the lower tier and all teams in the upper tier have a minimal travel of 13 miles.....

Prior to the TAC/MAC merger, I would not have been surprised to see Newton Falls, Labrae, Brookfield, and Champion joining the ITCL.

Salem would be a nice addition to the ITCL but only for football. It would be to tough for these small school to compete with Salem in lets say basketball or track. This is just my opinion, however, if they keep losing students and drop another division I don't see why we wouldn't add them.

Cross country & girls volleyball are the only other 2 sports I would see Salem having an advantage. Salem schoools are still having financial problems. Look for pay to play next year. In football, they are moving 2 freshman players to Varsity so that tells you they are hurting for players

They pretty much destroyed everyone else in the ITCL. McDonald was the only team to come close to them, I think. I agree that Salem should only be in the ITCL for football. For any other sport, they're just too big of a school.

If Salem drops to D-4, then they should be in the ITCL. I know that their girls sports are strong, but that will make the rest of the ITCL have to raise their level of play. The other sports have several out of league games, so scheduling up should not be a problem. That being said, I doubt if the ITCL will expand; teams will be added only if teams leave (ie > Mineral Ridge to the All-American? b/c of proximity).

If Springfield continues to get smaller, who will fill their spot? I think the additon of Salem would be a good thing...Just my opinion.

Now that the East Suburban Conference has folded, and if the Northeast Athletic Conference does not sponsor football, you might see Mathews, Southington, Grand Valley, and Pymatuning Valley looking to the ITCL....

I think the current league set-up is an ideal situation with two eight team sub-divisions, however if the league would expand I beilieve it will be similar to the new All-American Conference that is starting up in the valley.
If the ITCL would expand by two teams, then it would be possible to have three six team divisions, or you could add the ESC teams plus Salem to make it a 21 team league with three seven team divisions.
Whatever the case, it will be interesting to see what happens in the next two years in areas leagues.

This will be a very interesting situation over the next couple of years. I would love to see the ITCL expand with a few more teams, but is the league up for it? Thats debatable. Salem would be a great addition to the league in my opinion and only raise the level of play in other sports. ITCL has been a great league the past two years and I think that the league would greatly benefit by adding teams such as Salem. Smaller teams from the ESC I don't feel so highly about, with the exception of Mathews as they appear to be turning the program around. Just my opinion.

If Matthews was to join, they would be placed in the upper tier, they were D5 or close to it. That would not be good travel wise for them.
Salem on the other hand would benefit greatly with close proximity to all schools and they would reestablish an old rivalry with Ep.

The Mathews situation is debatable, being on the D5-D6 bubble line, but the Mustangs would most likely be placed in the Upper Tier. I would love to see Mathews enter the conference again someday... The program is becoming stronger, now just let's wait and see what it produces...

Adding Salem would be good. Any of the ESC teams? No way. Mathews has had success, but they did it vs other ESC teams. Size wise, they'd be in the Upper Tier I think. The Mustangs want absolutely no piece of South Range, Crestview, or Columbiana year in and year out.
