Mathews Mustangs Mathews returns with virtually everyone from last season. Buckner, Hughes, Jackson, Lamacusa, and Ochletree are ready to lead the Mustangs and build on last years 5-5 season. Leetonia tore up the starters last year and probably killed a chance of another win or two. With Mathews back in Division 5, Mathews would need to go through there schedule virtually unscaved to make the playoffs. The 2007 schedule looks like this: Week #1 @ Western Reserve Blue Devils Week #2 Cleveland Central Catholic Ironmen Week #3 Leetonia Bears Week #4 @ Youngstown Christian Eagles Week #5 @ Chalker Wildcats Week #6 Ledgemont Redskins Week #7 Middletown Christian Eagles Week #8 @ Saints John and Paul Heralds Week #9 Lutheran East Falcons Week #10 @ Pymatuning Valley Lakers

Yea you guys might want to watch out for the Bears again this year. That was a pretty big loss, considering our JV played the entire second half.

Congratulations to the Mustangs! I wouldn't be surprised if the ITCL doesn't meet up with the Mustangs again in week #11.

I am sure South Range, Crestview, or Ridge would love to get Mathews in the first round if Mathews gets to Week #11.... Mathews will be taking one game at a time, and if they make Week #11, so be it whoever they play...

Matthews is a joke. They are a bad team in even worse league. Put them in the ITCL and they are lucky to get out of league play with 1 or 2 wins. It will be a repeat performance in the playoffs this year whoever they play.

To say that Matthews will get killed is a joke in it self. They are very capable of winning in the playoffs. They have 3 excellent running backs and a good D. To say that they would win only a handful of games in the ITCL, well that may be another story. All I know is that those kids have heart and play to win. They play who they are supposed to and thus far are 8-0 beating the likes of Leetonia and Western Reserve who are pretty good this year. Good luck to the Stangs and hopefully we will see you in the playoffs! Beat Pymatuning, but take it one game at a time and the success will follow!
PS Coach Parry deserves real mention as the Trumbull County Coach of the Year. He is really turning that program around!

How can you agree with them being lucky to win 1 or 2 games in the ITCL and then say that they would win games in the playoffs!

Maybe I didn't make my self as clear as I thought I did to myself. When I stated that, "they would win only a handful of games in the ITCL, well that may be another story" I meant that they could win more games than just Leetonia and WR. If they had been in the 2nd tier of the ITCL they might have the same 8-0 record they do now. The upper tier would be a different story. Playing the likes of South Range, Ridge, Crestview, Col, United, Springfield, Lisbon, week after week, they might have a far different record than they do now. And as far as the playoffs go, any one can beat any one come week 11. All I know is that I wish the Stangs the best of luck on the rest of their season.

I love the trash talkers, thanks for standing up for Mathews raiderqb95. If Mathews beats Pymatuning Valley, they will probably end up playing Saint Peter Chanel, if Chanel wins this week. Now you would think a Chanel team could destroy Mathews, I am ready to argue my case, Cleveland Central Catholic who Mathews beat in Week #2 had Chanel on the ropes this week and lost 22-19. I am gonna give Mathews a shot at beating Chanel, even if its at Chanel. The deal is Mathews has the three running backs, and I have heard that Chanel's defense is slow against the rush. I hope Mathews wins Friday, and makes the playoffs and show the trash talkers and disbelievers wrong.
raiderQB95, I am hoping SVSM takes care of Ursuline, and everyone else does there job this week to keep them out of the top 8 spots, I believe if Ursuline does not make it, South Range will make it to Regionals with ease.

Mathew99: Your welcome. I couldn't believe I had to defend a 9-0 team! You guys have a great coach and an awesome 3 headed monster in the backfield. Goodluck the rest of the way! Beat PV and we'll see ya down the road! ;D
As for Ursuline getting in the playoffs, I hope they do. They deserve to make it but we will see if they have enough points to do so. They are a fantastic team that would be the favorite to win the region if they do make it and I know the Raiders would love a shot at playing them. As for them not making the playoffs the Raiders might be considered the favorite but have some work to do so before coming out of this region......its no cupcake!!!
