Anyone care to comment on how they feel Region 17 is shaping up? Looks like Ursuline could miss the playoffs for the 1st time in several years, opening the way for several others. Kirtland & Cuyahoga Hts appear strong and have already played one another. Will Campbell Mem. get back on the winning track? Does anyone feel that Crestview is good enough to win R17?

84 this is a good time to begin discussing this Region! Although it is still early and you know how things can change at the last minute. If Ursuline gets in, they will win it--we both know that. I (personally) feel that the Catholic Schools should be forced to play up. The Irish play up all the time---I think they are hoping for a win that will shoot them to the top in Region 17! They really need to play in Division III or II due to their recruiting. Just think if Crestview or Columbiana could pull all the "choice" kids from southern Mahoning and Columbiana County. ....and we have a leesson here: remember the kids that Lisbon got from Southern---and Lisbon won state!!!
Sorry about discussing just one team but that's my thoughts tonight. Thanks for posting this topic!

Agreed 1970, but it's ANY school not just C-view or Columbiana. BTW, C-view does have quite a bit of open enrollment through all grades so if that door was shut, what would they have?

1970, I tend to agree with "if Ursuline gets in, they will win"... but I predict this year they're schedule gets the best of them, and they'll miss the last seed. I doubt they'll beat St. Edward or Cardinal Mooney, and they could very well lose to 5-0 St Vincent/St Mary. We'll have to wait and see how the cookie crumbles. At best I see them finishing 4-6... will that be good enough?

With Columbiana playing in both Crestview and Springfield in the upcoming schedule the region will change considerably. I agree in that it is a real outside shot that Ursuline will make it this year, but a 4-6 record, depending on who they beat could put them in. If they would somehow upset St. Ed's tonight they will probably get enough points on that win alone to qualify for the playoffs.
CH has wins over a very weak schedule so far, but at #10 they are a team that could very well slide into the playoffs at years end, and with Barnesville and Monroe playing each other there is a chance one could knock the other out of the playoff picture.

Good discussion! What do you think Southern Locals chance is? I would think that the Indians chances of making the playoffs are great, especially if they would beat Western Reserve! Even if they would lose I could see them making the post-season, but with the records of the teams on the schedule they can't afford to get tripped up.

Here's the top 15 from J. Eitel's site. Looks like Ursuline is all but out at 1-6. Some significant games remain for the top 8 that could make or break playoff hopes. Monroe Central vs Barnesville is a key game to watch - the winner solidifies their standing, the loser may be fighting for that 8th spot. 5-2 Rootstown plays 5-2 Mogodore (Div VI), both teams needing a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive. Southern needs to stay focused after the WR loss, and win out against a weak remaining schedule. Last, will we see a Columbiana -vs- Crestview rematch? I for one - hope so!! :>)

Hey Bulldog why do you hate Crestview? Did you go to school there and get cut from the team Crestview isn't even a big rival of Palestine I hope for a rematch with Columbiana It was a very good game probably the best so far Columiana has a very good team. We should have our starting center back by then.
