What are your thoughts on this match-up?

One of my thoughts (aside from any Private -vs- Parochial playoff system debate) is:
How does a coach prepare for such a formidable opponent... in that, what does a coach tell his players? The David -vs- Goliath story is a fine story... but not sure how effective that would be for a FB game. Also, what if anything does a coach DO different in practice to prepare? Or what does a coach do different in this game iteself?

The only way Range wins is Ursuline's bus breaks down on the way to YSU Its a shame that you have to play a division 1 school in the first round.

what to talk about. Its a joke the 2 teams meeting Ursuline belongs in D1, not D5. When will those Boneheads in Columbus put the privates into their own division? They say they don't recruit for sports, but they have the best of the players in the area. Now how did they get there?

Upon checking with a few coaches today, I heard coach Yeagley telling his team that they will be evaluated by how they conduct themselves. How you re-act, how hard you play, you will be evauluated not only in football, but in life. Good words to live by.

Very true. An individual's character always shines through when up against adversity! As a TEAM, SR has always had a good reputation for character, dignity and pride. I have no doubt their conduct will make us all proud Friday night - whether you are a SR fan or a ITCL fan.

I would imagine their are 22 other teams in DV, reg 17, that would love to be playing in week 11....even if it was against Ursuline. I say congratulations to coach Yeagley and his team for making the playoffs and a terrific year to year turn around. Good luck Saturday against the Irish!

I second the Congratulations to coach Yeagley on the great turnaround. And in weeks 11 and 12, SR and the View players will be able to say they played one of the Top 10 teams in the state - arguably one of the top 5. They'll have those memories forever, and no doubt will have stories to tell their kids (football playing sons) in the future.

I read the quotes by coach Yeagley and must say, I am a little disappointed. He seems in the interview like he is giving off this vibe of "your right, we don't have a chance." He says, " who knows maybe we can win." Are you kidding me? Man up fool. You need to command the respect of your team before you take them into a battle like this. His comments should be, "we will win" (even though I would bet my house on the fact that they don't) On the other side of the coin, this is hard for the seniors on this team. To bounce back from a bad season and make the playoffs then have to play a powerhouse like Ursuline (who is know for illegal recruiting), this trouncing we be remembered their whole life. I can only hope that they can score against their second teamers at the end of the game. Sorry Range, this is going to be a horrible loss. Possibly worst in school history

Franky, your words may be a bit harsh at Coach Yeagley. We're only hearing tidbits of his comments. I'm sure he is saying much, much more to his players. Sounds to me like he is being REAL. And last, the word fool doesn't belong in the same sentence, or even the same paragraph, to any reference regarding coach Yeagley.

84 grad: I feel you. Maybe the interview was poorly quoted (Thanks Y-town Vindy). I still feel for the seniors. It was bad enough they got blown out at Crestview, now Ursuline. I know that I am speaking premature in saying it will be a blow out, but if you check Rivals.com Ursuline is nationally ranked (#90 out of the best 100 teams in the country-all divisions). This team is loaded. I am a grad of South Range, but feel that they benefited from a very weak ITCL this year. Only Mineral Ridge was an admirable opponent. A typical ITCL year, Range would have been 4-6 at best. I think that South Range has some rough years ahead. The depth chart lacks experience and talent and my personal feeling, several losing seasons will force Yeagley out the door (by choice bigger program).
