The Clippers are coming off a resounding defeat by the defending ITCL Champion Crestview Rebels and the Eagles had "no problem" stopping the East palestine Bulldogs in last weeks contests.
What are your thoughts as the Clippers visit the eagles in this Friday's contest?

The Clippers have "another" Q-back to contend with this week! If they can stop the Eagle passing game I think the Clippers will leave victorious!
......if they do not contain the Q-back, they will "NOT" be moving into the post season this year!

I just looked on Cal Preps "Project a Matchup" and here's their prediction:
Columbiana (OH) 21, United (Hanoverton, OH) 20

I think the Clippers find some way to win this game. Good luck to both squads!

A must game for both teams if either want to play in week 11. The past few years these games have been defensive struggles for the most part and relatively close. Barbatos is a QB that most reminds me of United's McLaughlin. Same type of running threat. Very quick, elusive runner that challenges opponents with finess and not shear power. Able to make plays with his arm and legs. You would think this would be a real shootout but Spaite always seems to come up with a defensive scheme to shut United down. United needs this game for more than just a playoff appearance or possible share of the crown. They need this mentally because Columbiana is what I would consider one of the elite programs in the upper tier. We couldn't quite pull out the vistory over Crestview so a win here would go along way in the restoration of United's program that Coach Ward has underway.

I like columbiana's option attack on offence if they can control the ball i think they have a great shot at winning. But if United stuffs the option then I think you will see an air raid attack go into phase. I attended the western reserve, columbiana, east, and youngstown christan scrimmage and WR passed all over columbiana.... we will see should be a great game and weather might be a big factor!!!!!

Columbiana's ground game will have to be addressed by United's staff but ultimately the players will have to step up and make the stops. Spaite is a master at establishing a running game and hitting you with short play action passes that demoralize defenses. United can ill afford to have Columbiana grind out 10-12 play drives that eat up whole quarters. United needs to come out fast and force Columbiana into catch up ball making them to play into United's defensive strength. Ultimately I think this game will be decided by the play of United's defensive front and LB's. Make the stops, United gets the offensive possesions. Don't make the stops and Columbiana controls the tempo, clock, and likely the outcome.

Columbiana's ground game will have to be addressed by United's staff but ultimately the players will have to step up and make the stops. Something coach Ward discussed with us this week. He realizes that Barbato and Roncone are two players they need to focus on stopping. I really think this has to be a desperation game for the Clippers. They can not afford another loss. United really can't afford one either, but they would still have slim hopes if they loss.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one ITCL, this is a must win for BOTH teams. Columbiana has an outside shot at 6-4 in Region 23, but United has an even smaller outside shot at 7-3 in Region 17. Either way, Both need to win out just to secure a spot. If Columbiana wins this game, they get plenty of $$ for their computer points. United will get fewer returns from beating Columbiana in computer points. This game concludes the meat-grinder of Columbiana's schedule, with 3 out of their last 4 games have played S.R., Crestview, and United. If they can pull this one, IMO, they are headed to the playoffs. With a date looming with S.R. week 10, United cannot afford another loss. IMO this is due-or-die for week 11 hopes for both programs. It's too bad I can't be there, because I would love to see Coach Ward square off with Coach Spaite. This one is gonna be a slobber-knocker. Look for United's supreme air support with it's playmakers at wide-outs in Powell, Beech, and Miller to cut apart Columbiana's secondary, but it could be a long night if the front 7 for United can't stand tall and stop Barbatos and that d#%^ veer option. United 27 Columbiana 19

I'm feeling good about the Clippers' chances in this one. Boy! I do wish we had #90 back....he would be a difference maker! As I said in another post, whichever Q gets their team moving north and south, They have the advantage in this one!
GO CLIPS!
Clippers 23 Eagles 21

After seeing both squads, I dunno. I really cannot pick either one, but I can say this, I believe United is a better overall team than Columbiana. But United could have very easily lost to Ep if the Bulldogs had scored on the 3 redzone opportunities. If I really had to pick a winner, I'd have to go with Spaite and his Clippers. Now, excuse me while I go hide after saying that. Shame on me.
Oh ya, 1970. that field at United runs just like the one in Columbsybanana, East and West, minus the Corn and Cow fields.. Where'd you get North and South?

After seeing both play I would also say that United has a better over all team. United played with Crestview untill the end Columbiana game was over in the 3rd I really thought Columbiana would be tougher this year. If you can stop the dive Have the tackles take the dive back and the linebackers take the QB its over. I think Columbiana will not be able to stop the passing attack or the scrambling of the United QB. United wins this one but that's why we play the game anything can happen.
