Who do you think will win this big game between two of the top contenders in the Upper Tier, but also a possible match-up of the top two quarterbacks in Josh McLaughlin (United) and Carter Hill (Crestview).

To suggest Salem is "not anyone" is just stirring the pot. United deserves credit for hanging in there with a good Salem team. But, hey, in a public forum someone has got to do it - stir the pot that is - haha! This game is HUGE for both teams, but especially for United. If U can get out of the gates quick, strike hard, and turn turnovers into points, then they should still be in the game come the 4th quarter. I think Crestview will win, as they are defending champs at home. But, I also think United can win... Good luck to both teams!

United will get a taste of a real football team.

Because they haven't played a real football team yet? Salem and Malvern were both veteran playoff squads and United split between these two. Toothman is the best player in the county IMO. Malvern has unbelievable size for being D6. Its not like the Eagles haven't seen what Crestview has to offer. Granted these teams probably won't be as tough as they were last year, but they provided a tough test for the Eagles. Saying that the U hasn't faced a real team yet is a stretch. The 711 that Crestview racked up last week is impressive, but United has been averaging over 400 yds a game. I believe that this should be a high scoring game with the team with the most takeaways winning.

Crestview definetly has a more polished defense. Seem to be very disciplined and are good fundamental tacklers. I have always noticed thier LB's are not being sucked into play fakes and letting the play develope and then attack with thier speed. A credit to the coaching staff. United's line will have to step up to create some rushing lanes and give the QB just enough time to make the throw. If not it could be a long nite for United. If given enough time he can pick apart any defenses he has faced in 3 years...just needs a little time. You don't often see a high school QB that can improvise like he can and thow with such accuracy 30-40 yards downfield while on the run. From what I have seen of Hill he has really mastered the pistol formation with beautiful play fakes and he's a real tank to bring down. Crestview has a good corps of recievers that are disciplined and run good routes. Defensively for United they must shore up the run D possibly with shuffling the personnel. Secondary has more than held thier own against a couple good passing teams in Malvern and Salem. Hopefully for United this won't come down to the kicking game. United has struggled since thier kicker went down to injury, hope he's back for this one. I think this may be closer than what people expect and may be decided by turnovers.

Salem and Malvern? Neither one of those two teams would have much of a chance against Crestview, let alone against most of the Upper. United is in for a bubble burst Friday.

I would'nt write United off completely yet. The game vs. Crestview turned out about as I expected. Unfortunately we could'nt capitalize on first half Crestview turnovers. A couple key dropped passes really hurt United chances. One in the endzone that I think resulted in 0 points for the drive and a couple 3rd-4th down opportunities later in the game. Mistakes like that happen but when you play the real good teams you can't overcome even a few mistakes. We could'nt establish any running game and struggled especially in the second half to contain it defensively. Crestview was the better team but I think even they showed a possibly achilles heel when it comes to defending against a mobile QB that has competent receivers.

United should be a better team as a result of the loss, and I wouldn't write them off either as they are still positioned favorably in the ITCL standings. Learn what they can from this loss, and get back to business. They have their work cut out for them the 2nd half of the season.
