It looks like most fans are picking Lowellville and McDonald as the two favorites. I'm curious to see if Leetonia or Western Reserve could put a monkey wrench into those predictions.

If by shock, you mean people will be shocked because they will not be nearly as good as they could be, then you are correct. Lack of discipline and direction will derail the train that could be Southern Local football.

Southern will be the shocker of this ITCl Season. I was at their Steubenville scrimmage, and wow they were impressive, at a D-6 level they took on Big Red and Cambridge High both D-3 schools. In there first series Southern Scored 3 or 4 times in about 10 minutes on Cambridge. And then went toe to toe with Big Red Starters, and competed at one of the highest levels in Ohio High School football.

^ What a joke. You do know they scrimmaged against Big Red and Cambridge's Freshmen teams right? Southern could be a shocker, but won't even be a factor until they beat McDonald, Leetonia, or Western Reserve (which they have never done) JOKE

Actually it was Steubinville and Cambridges First string, then Second at the end. And if you don't believe those are correct then how do you explain Southerns Scrimmage up at Indian Creek. After a shaky start Vs. East Liverpool, Southern played a notorious power house in Columbiana (Who by the way is picked to be second in the Upper tier) and drove the ball straight down throat, like it was nothing. And then on Defense held the Clippers Score less. Then the Indians played Creek, and after two series Creek was done. Southern held them score less, then drove the ball down there throat so bad, Indian Creek actually said they quit because of the physical and hard play, they didn't want to get there kids hurt.

If u actually think Coach Sac played his first team against Southern, you are nuts! IDK about Cambridge, but I can guarantee you that Southern did not see Big Red's 1's, 2's or 3's. If that's what you got to tell yourself to make you feel good, then so be it. But I'm sure it didn't happen.

Settle down boys. Yeah I heard from a Indian Creek fan that they had their freshmen team scrimmage Southern last Saturday. I don't know how true that is, but I would be very, very surprised if Steubenville scrimmaged with varsity players against a D6 school. No matter how good of a program it is. The athletic talent is going to be so much greater at a D3 (especially at Steubenville) compared to D6, that they would not risk an injury against someone they would have such a large athletic advantage over.

That is not exactly true, Southern did have one series against Indian Creek's freshmen but it was the last series of the day and Southern was on offense and Indian Creek was on D. I would say that the freshmen did ok against Southern but the Indians did march the ball right down the field and score. Before that last series though IC had their varsity players out there and Southern Local and IC looked pretty even if you ask me. I don't remember either team scoring and each team moved the ball. I don't think IC will be able to hang with Big Red in the opener for very long. Thats no knock on their program but as we all know Big Red is very good.

As far as the Steubenville scrimmage you have got to take your hat off to Southern for even going down there and lining up against Big Red's second, third, and whoever else that Reno put out there. Big Red's second and third teams are probably as good as or better than anyone Southern will see the rest of the year. Big Red first unit went with Cambridge and ate them up. Big Red scored at will on them and I don't think that was a very good scrimmage for either team. I don't think Southern played against Cambridge's first team either, it was their second and third units also. Southern has been going to Steubenville to scrimmage for the last 3 or 4 years and sometimes in the past Big Red has had some of their varsity players play against Southern.

Great to have you aboard! Yes, that is why I said that I didn't know how true that is about IC's freshmen. I always kind of take things with a "grain of salt" when fans talk about their favorite teams. Your right, hats of to Southern and their coaching staff to scrimmage Steubenville. As they say, "if you want to be the best, you have to play the best." Whether it was Steubenville's first, second, or sixth teamers on the field....Steubenville has one of the best programs in the state of Ohio, and it would be a great test for the Indians.
