After being on the sidelines of the game, it is clear that East Palestine has a very special team this year. In my opinion, it looks like only Crestview may have a chance to beat them. If the Bulldogs would lose to someone else, it would be because the Dogs lost the game, not that someone else is better then them.

I really don't know where your going with this, You played a great game, you beat us fair and square. I'm happy for EP and the ITCL to have a team that good represent us in the playoffs this year, what more do you want??? I decided to do a little resaerch to see what you were talking about . I think you mean Columbiana should be a D5 schoolinstead of a D6. I've never heard this brought up before but this is what I came up with on www.publicschoolreview.com which is an official school information website for all schhols. Columbiana has a total of 1011 students k-12. 322in high school (158 boys / 164 girls ) 9th 101 10th 77 11th 68 12th 76 Mineral Ridge (also D6) has a total of 1009 k-12 309 in high school 9th 76 10th 85 11th 81 12th 67 .......very, very similar. East Palestine has 1380 students K-12 (369 more than Columbiana) 444 in high school (122 more) 9th 99 (2 less than the biggest class ever in our school history) 10th 122 (45 more) 11th 109 (32 more) 12th 114 (38 more) so there you have it. I don't know why this was even brought up because it means nothing, but there it is.

My bad, I didn't realize Mineral Ridge moved up to D5, I don't know what the cutoff number is either but theres the student population in those schools, maybe we should be a D5, or they should move back to D6. You could be right.

Clipdog, I would'nt worry too much about it, who ever posted it is just trying to stir up trouble. or they would have realized that 3 of the first 4 games for ep were against d-6 teams, and on of them was a lower tier team.

Belive me, I won't lose any sleep over it. It would be interesting to know how they come up with what division a school should be in. ( I'm just a dumb parent so I don't know this) I heard it was yhe population of the high school, but I also heard it's the number of boys in high school, and I heard it's the size of the graduating class . I don't know what is or if it's the actual number for that year or if it's the average over a certain number of years. It would be something neat to know. anybody ?

I heard it's based on the population of boys at the school, but it's probably more indepth than that.

It is based purely on number of boys in high school and nothing else. The OHSAA website has the cutoffs for every division.

Going by those numbers, Columbiana should be a D5 and EP should be a D4.

Your right there guest. Every two years the OHSAA gathers the statistics of the boys and girls in grades 9-11 of all schools participating in athletics. Based upon those numbers, the OHSAA divides the schools into the six divisions in football, and different divisions for other sports. I hope this gives a little more detail in the football divisions.
Otherwise I think this thread has run its course.
